Reports Scheduler
Automate any number of
reports to run
automatically, with set
parameters, at a
specific time. This
allows practices to
create custom jobs to
run big reports in the
middle of the night to
be ready in the morning.
Custom Jobs can run
multiple reports with
varying parameters.
Front Desk Imaging
Front desk images and
documents are scanned or
faxed into a patient
record, and accessed
through MedInformatix’s
demographic screen.
Front desk images are
separated into practice
defined tabs, so it is
easy for a user to
locate the image or
document they are
looking for.

Advanced Code Checking
Software
Interfaced with
MedInformatix’s claims
generator, DavLong’s
Advanced Code Checking
Softwrae checks over 2.7
million national
insurance edits before
the claim is generated.
Practice defined custom
edits can be integrated
as well. The module is
driven by a powerful
database called Alpha
II, which is updated
quarterly to ensure
coding accuracy. With
this module, virtually
100% of your claims will
be transmitted without
error the first time
(from a clinical
standpoint).
-
CPT/ICD9 relationship
-
Modifier usage
-
Bundling/Unbundling
issues
-
Ordering of CPT and
ICD9 codes on the claim
Recall System
-
Allows for both
tracked and untracked
recalls
-
Untracked recalls can
be printed on a letter,
a card or labels
-
There are three types
of letters that can be
generate for tracked
recalls:
-
An initial letter,
indicating there is a
problem that needs to be
addressed
-
A missed appointment
letter (the recall
system interfaces with MedInformatix’s
appointment scheduler)
-
An overdue recall
letter. This letter is
generated by a
user-defined number of
days since the original
letter was sent
-
There is an extensive
reporting system that
analyzes all recalls
Intelligent Ordering
System
-
Utilizes “artificial
Intelligence” to suggest
orders based on the
diagnosis code(s)
assigned to a patient.
Suggested orders can be
retrieved based on an
individual provider’s
ordering history, or on
the ordering history of
the practice as a whole.
-
Allows a provider to
create order macros.
These macros can be
named by the provider in
any manner they wish,
and can include an
unlimited number of
orders. When a doctor
selects a macro, he/she
can quickly add to or
subtract from the list
of orders generated.
-
Allows a practice to
enter an unlimited
number of scheduled
orders. These orders
show up as “alerts” when
a provider enters the
ordering system.
Examples of scheduled
orders include:
-
PSA – a male patient
over the age of 40 that
has not had a PSA in the
last year.
-
Mammogram – a female
patient over the age of
40 that has not had a
mammogram in the last
year.
-
Blood Sugar – a
diabetic patient that
has not had a blood
sugar taken in the last
3 months.
Medically Necessary
Alerts
Part of DavLong’s
Ordering System, it
warns a provider when
he/she orders a
test/procedure that does
not have a proper
corresponding diagnosis.
It allows the provider
to select from a list of
diagnosis codes that are
considered to be
medically necessary, or
allows the provider to
have the patient sign an
ABN. If the provider
chooses to have an ABN
signed, he/she can bring
up the ABN on his/her
pen pad and have the
patient read the
notification and sign
the form.
Result Viewer
(Medical Image /
Document Viewing and
Statusing Software)
Allows a provider to
view and status medical
images and/or documents
that are scanned, faxed
or electronically
updated into a patient
record. When a document
or image is received,
the provider is messaged
automatically in
MedInformatix’s
messaging system. This
message includes the
name of the patient and
the section of the chart
the image or document
resides in. Until the
provider reviews the
image/document, the
status assigned is
“unknown.” Once the
provider reviews it,
he/she can status the
image/document as
follows:
-
Green – Normal
-
Yellow – Abnormal
-
Red – Severely
Abnormal
This color-coded status
allows the provider to
quickly spot
problem-sections of the
chart when reviewing a
patient record. Other
features of this module
include:
-
Lab results are
flow-sheeted in this
viewer allowing the
provider to compare
multiple results at the
same time.
-
A provider can query
the database to find
results that have been
received that have not
yet been reviewed. They
can also query to find
orders that were made
where no results have
been received.
-
The module also
includes a letter writer
that allows the provider
to quickly tailor a
letter to the patient.
The provider maintains
the paragraphs used in
these letters, and test
results can be included
in or excluded from each
letter.
Lab Interfaces
Allows lab orders to be
processed electronically
to most outside
reference labs as well
as many popular LIS
programs (for those
practices with internal
labs). When results are
received back from the
lab or the LIS program,
the interface updates
results directly into
the patient’s chart. The
provider who ordered the
lab is messaged in
MedInformatix’s
messaging system that
the results have
arrived. Some other
features of this module
include:
-
Can be interfaced to
multiple labs and/or LIS
programs at the same
time.
-
Has the ability to
bill for lab work. This
can be done by the
provider at the time the
lab is ordered, by the
nurse or medical
assistant at the time
the blood is drawn, or
by the lab tech at the
time the lab is
processed.
-
Maintains and prints a
manifest of all lab work
processed to a
particular lab.
-
Maintains a complete
audit trail of lab work
processed. Allows the
user to track lab work
processed where no
results or incomplete
results have been
received.
On-Line Patient
Portal / Kiosk
Registration
(in beta testing)
This module allows the
patient to enter his/her
medical histories into a
Kiosk in the practice
waiting room, or via the
Internet through the
practice’s web site
before arriving for
his/her appointment. The
benefit here is obvious;
the most time consuming
part of implementing an
electronic medical
records system is the
entry of patient history
(which can take up to 10
minutes or longer).
With this module, a
practice can eliminate
the need of having an
employee transcribe the
history from a form, and
allow the patient to
enter the information
directly into the
medical record for the
practice. Of course, the
data is available for
the clinical staff to
review (and correct or
modify if necessary)
once the patient is
called back to the exam
room.
Specialist Program
(not currently
available – in alpha
testing)
DavLong has a
bi-directional
communications interface
between MedInformatix
and most specialists who
have a Windows computer
and have Internet
access. This interface
sends referral
information based on
your practices’
requirements to the
specialist. This
information can include:
-
Demographic and
Insurance Information
-
Images such as
insurance cards, digital
images (X-Ray, MRI, CT,
etc), photos, etc.
-
Progress Notes
-
Diagnostic Test
Results
The specialist is
asked to attach his/her
notes, findings, images,
etc. (via a free program
we supply to their
office) to a
transmission that gets
returned to MedInformatix. The data
received in this
transmission is
automatically updated to
the patient chart in the
proper chart section.
The doctor is messaged
through MedInformatix’s
messaging system that
the specialist’s
information has arrived.
A complete audit trail
of specialist orders is
maintained. It allows
the user to track orders
processed where no
response has been
received from the
specialist.
On-Going Product
Development
With feedback from our
Clients, DavLong
continues to develop and
implement new
enhancements to the
MedInformatix product.
These are made available
to practices upon
release. |
