HIPAA Compliance

HIPAA, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, was created to ensure the portability of health insurance, reduce healthcare fraud, guarantee the privacy and security of health information and standardize healthcare industry transactions.

Part of HIPAA’s mandate is protecting and establishing national standards for electronic healthcare transactions. This requires the industry to use one national standard electronic format and set of codes to exchange information.

MedInformatix Software Version 5.25 and Version 6.0 were designed with compliance in mind. This version is currently HIPAA compliant for the electronic transaction sets our software supported up to ANSI X12N 4010 and 4010A and will support the 837 (sending claims) and 835 (receiving remittances) transaction sets in keeping with HIPAA policies and required deadlines.
